FReECo Is a Cameroonian non-governmental and non-profit organization with concern on ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation and Building Local capacity especially in rural remote communities and areas affected by socio-political unrest

Foundation for Restoration and Environmental Conservation (FReECo)

At FReECo, we empower local communities to lead conservation efforts by combining community engagement, sustainable livelihood development, and capacity building. By working closely with rural and conflict-affected areas, we support ecosystem restoration and biodiversity protection while promoting resilience and long-term sustainability. Our inclusive approach ensures that conservation is not only effective but deeply rooted in the needs and strengths of the people we serve.

Community Engagement

FReECo aims to engage local communities in all conservation initiatives, including developing conservation priorities, biomonitoring, and developing sustainable economic activities

Ecosystem Restoration & Biodiversity Conservation

FReECo engages local communities in all aspects of conservation, from setting priorities to promoting sustainable development, through both awareness programs and practical training.

Training and Capacity Building

FReECo provides training to local community members in using SMART tools for biomonitoring and surveillance

OUR MISSION

FReECo’s mission is to actively engage and empower local communities as key stakeholders in environmental conservation efforts. We aim to protect endangered wildlife and restore degraded habitats through inclusive, community-based approaches. At the same time, we promote sustainable livelihood opportunities that balance human well-being with ecological health. By fostering environmental education, capacity building, and grassroots participation, FReECo works to create a future where both people and nature can thrive together in harmony.

Empower Communities for Conservation

We believe conservation is most effective when it begins at the grassroots. FReECo works closely with local communities, especially those in rural and conflict-affected areas, to raise awareness and build capacity

Protect Biodiversity and Wildlife Habitats

We restore ecosystems and protect endangered species using practical, community-based conservation methods. Our goal is to preserve biodiversity for future generations.

Promote Sustainable Livelihoods Linked to Nature

We support eco-friendly income sources like agroforestry and eco-tourism. These alternatives help reduce pressure on wildlife while improving community well-being. When nature thrives, communities do too.

Gender Equality in Conservation

At FReECo, we believe that every human has the moral responsibility to contribute their quota to ensure the sustainability of man and the environment
